About Us – Our Story: From the Farm to Pet Wellness
Our story begins at the very heart of nature. Nikki grew up on a busy working farm surrounded by animals of every kind. From hand-rearing ducklings, pheasants, and partridges to caring for guinea fowl, chickens, and turkeys, her love for animals began from the moment she could walk. Every bird that wandered near was fed, watered, and adopted—free to leave if they wished, though many chose to stay for years. The fields were home to ponies, a donkey, and sometimes cattle, while the “farm cats” inevitably preferred the comfort of indoors.
And of course, there were the dogs—each one special, each one unforgettable. Nikki often reflects on their different personalities, loyal companionship, and the unconditional love they brought into her life.
Matt’s childhood was also filled with dogs—his beloved Becky and Chloe first sparked his lifelong devotion to these remarkable creatures. Later came Sadie and Sheera, who remained with his parents as Matt moved through life.
When Matt met Nikki, their shared passion for animals created an instant bond. Naturally, the next step was to welcome a puppy together. Enter Lola, their first Labrador—elegant, affectionate, and perfect in every way. The following year, Nikki decided Matt “needed” another puppy for his birthday—and so Bisto Bear (or “Bizzi” as she was affectionately known) joined the family.
Bizzi was one of a kind: fiercely independent, loving only on her terms, yet utterly devoted. At six years old, a tragic accident left her with dislocated front and rear legs. After months of recovery, the trust and bond between Matt and Bizzi became unbreakable. She lived a full, happy life, content with her signature limp, until at 12 she was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease. With dedicated love, vet support, and the help of carefully sourced natural pet supplements, her family ensured her final months were comfortable and pain-free.
It was through Bizzi’s journey that My Bear Pet Care was born. With a strong background in nutritional formulations and wellness, Nikki and Matt began creating premium natural supplements for pets—designed to support dog health, vitality, and longevity.
Although the launch was briefly paused during the Covid pandemic, their passion never faded. Today, they proudly continue Bizzi’s legacy with their two chocolate Labradors—Aubretia (named after the flowers Bizzi used to flatten outside the kitchen window) and Rita, just because… why wouldn’t you want a dog named Rita?
